Bush Plans to Divide Jerusalem
Category: Special FeaturePresident Bush will make his first trip to Jerusalem on January 9th to try to shore up fragile peace efforts. Bush will also make stops in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Kuwait, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates to promote broader Arab-Israeli reconciliation after decades of conflict. The announcement of his itinerary follows a U.S.-hosted peace conference last month in Annapolis, MD, where Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas pledged to try to forge a peace deal by the end of 2008.
Last month I went to Annapolis for the Middle East Peace Summit. I remember driving the streets of the historic city seeing precious fathers, mothers and grandmothers shivering in the cold darkness. Many were holding signs printed with their pleas: “Don’t touch Jerusalem,” “Don’t touch the Bible land.” Tears slid down my face as I sense how desperate and hopeless they must feel. Those who love Jerusalem are overshadowed by the high and mighty of the world.
Time is running out so please vote today. 60,270 people have already cast their votes, but we must get at least 100,000 responses or President Bush will think that Christians support dividing Jerusalem and a Palestine State in 2008. Please get 10 of your friends to join you as we voice our opinion to the President. Your votes will also be released to the Israel media to let them know that as Christians we do not support President Bush’s plan.
We want to thank those who have contributed to Kinneret Chaya. We were able to send $1,200 to this brave woman who suffered through terrorism. We are sincerely grateful to Shelia Raviv, a marvelous Jerusalemite, a Jerusalem Prayer Team Member and a Christian Zionist, for writing this story about Kinneret. She is a very gifted writer. Shelia and her beloved husband, Zvie, have been angels to Kinneret. They have walked with her from day one. God Bless Them.
